Maria Castro, Graduate Clinical Intern
Maria Castro is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Moody Theological Seminary. She holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Chicago. As a former teacher and mother of four, she brings warmth, compassion, and practical understanding to her work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families navigating life's many complexities, transitions, and demands. Driven by her lived experience as a biracial woman, Maria integrates culture, identity, and family of origin into her work. Her approach is grounded in a multicultural and relational framework that honors each client's unique story, strengths, values, and background. She values working with a diverse range of clients and supports individuals and couples experiencing concerns related to anxiety, trauma, relationships, parenting, identity development, life transitions, and spiritual concerns.
My desire is to be present with you and walk alongside you with care and compassion in places that may feel painful, overwhelming, or difficult—without judgment or pressure to rush the process. I am committed to cultivating a collaborative safe space where you are welcomed and invited to come as you are. Whatever burdens, heartaches, questions, or longings you are holding, there is room for them here. I believe healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and known—and that no one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Your life and story matter. Maria works under the supervision of Travis Booth, MA, LCPC, and receives weekly faculty supervision through her program at Moody Theological Seminary.
