What inspired you to become a counselor?
I have always loved connecting on a deep level with people. Growing up I loved hearing people’s stories– of their pain and triumph, of their disappointment and hope, and of their dreams both realized and not yet. Deep, honest conversations give me life. In pursuing counseling, I saw how I could sit with people in their pain, help them get unstuck, resolve trauma, and pursue a life that is filled with hope, purpose, and joy.
What is something you would like new clients to know about beginning the counseling process?
Please come as you are. You don’t have to prove anything. I am for you, on your side, on your team. I want to be your biggest cheerleader and supporter. It’s my honor and joy to listen and get to know you, so just be yourself!
How would you describe your style or approach in counseling?
My approach is a melding of psychodynamic, internal family systems, somatic experience, and attachment theories. Through talking and listening, to attend to the client and their needs and desires. With that being said, I always want my clients to have the freedom to lead if there is something on their minds. In my opinion, the therapeutic process is best when it’s a collaboration!
What self-care practices do you enjoy doing most?
I love being outside–going for a walk, a run, swimming, or casually playing sports with friends. I also enjoy reading, painting, and any sort of creative project.
