Daniel Kazadi, Graduate Clinical Intern

As a clinical graduate intern, Daniel is pursuing his M.A. in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. Daniel holds a B.A. in computer science, and he has also completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he has provided spiritual and emotional care to patients, staff, and families. Daniel has been a mental health advocate in Zimbabwe for the past 2 years as the head of a non-profit organization that deals with mental health issues, where he volunteered to provide free counseling sessions to those who could not afford therapy and referred them to professionals if needed. Through the nonprofit organization, Daniel and others work to raise mental health awareness to various communities in Zimbabwe. Daniel brings a collaborative style to his work with clients. From an integrative approach, Daniel cultivates a comfortable environment through his warmth and compassion to guide clients to a deeper understanding of themselves and the issues that they are looking to address in their lives. Daniel’s journey has led him to live in different countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa which informs his multicultural approach to therapy. Daniel is passionate about exploring how past experiences can affect the present functioning of individuals.

Mental health issues affect human functioning and do not allow people to live and perform efficiently and effectively. I am committed to working collaboratively with each individual and exploring together how to find new and better ways of navigating life’s challenges.
