Laura Willis, MA

Laura has completed her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has clinical experience working with children and adolescents dealing with depression, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, self harm, anxiety, trauma, and conduct related challenges. She has also worked with adults experiencing setbacks ranging from anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and psychosis. In addition, she has experience facilitating family and group therapy. Laura uses a multicultural, trauma-informed, and strength-based approach with all her clients. She has a background in evidence-based theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Outside of the therapeutic space, Laura enjoys camping, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with close family and friends.

One of the most thrilling aspects of doing clinical work with my clients, especially children and adolescents, is helping them navigate their identity and purpose. Developmentally, they are in the most crucial stages of forming their personhood. I love helping them integrate life stressors such as trauma into their personal narratives in a way that brings healing and wholeness. I believe the presenting issues I often see do not have to define them. Rather, it is my joy to help them gain insight and mastery over the internal or external setbacks they experience so they can move forward with their own unique stories.
