As a clinical graduate intern, Kate Penkethman is pursuing her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Park University. Kate previously received her B.A. in Studio Art while minoring in Psychology at Wheaton College. Her background in visual art and experience in non-profit work inform her approach to counseling, which centers on collaboration and community to sustain the holistic wellness of the individual. Kate has learned that it is in connection with others that we experience long-lasting growth. Kate also understands the importance of acknowledging intersectionality in the counseling space and seeks the empowerment of her clients throughout their healing process. Counseling involves the whole person, so it is integral to honor the different aspects of a client’s identity as it is equally vital to center the client’s strengths in the counseling space.
Living can be both fulfilling and devastating at the same time. It can be challenging to hold everything you are carrying alone. I hope we can lighten the load together. I am grateful for the opportunity to unpack the realities of life together. I look forward to learning from you and journeying with you as you seek your own healing and growth.
